Slea Head Drive

Rated #1 must-do on the Dingle Peninsula by TripAdvisor (and that’s quite an accolade considering the competition), the Slea Head Drive is without question one of the finest clifftop routes in the world. Whether driving or cycling, on a fine day – of which there are many – scenery simply doesn’t get any better than this. And even when the weather is less clement, it would be difficult for anyone not to appreciate the raw awesomeness of the landscape and the wild sea plumes below.

Around the way you can see ancient beehive huts (so evocative they even make an appearance on the latest Star Wars movie, part of which is shot here); view or even take a trip to the mystical Blasket Islands and visit the Blasket Island Centre/Ionad an Bhlascaoid Mhóir to find out more about life on the islands before they were abandoned; experience the wild magic of Coumenole Beach; indulge in some pottery at Louis Mulcahy’s workshop; see why Clogher is one of the most photographed beaches in Ireland.
